How to Develop and Strengthen Your Intuition

Updated: May 14, 2023

Have you heard of 'Wisdom is always speaking to us but it doesn't yell.'?

The same is true for our intuition as well.

If you Google the word 'intuition', you'll get the following result.

intuition noun the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning.

How many of you rely on your intuition when it comes to work-life?

Intuition plays an important role when it comes to your career growth. As we make progress in our career, we often have to; deal with a number of challenging situations, meet people who we don't like but are required to work with, decide between two great offers that are presented to us.

Your intuition can be an asset in such situations if you know how to use it to your advantage.

So in this article, we are going to teach you how to improve your intuitive abilities and how to listen to your instincts.

Retrospect

To access your intuition, start by thinking about all the past moments in your life when you were stuck between two choices and you chose wrong even when you felt and knew what the right choice was in the first place. That was your intuition speaking to you. Make a list of as many events as you can recall and, moving forward, start being intentional about your decision-making.

When you hear that voice, listen to it carefully, pay attention to the signs, connect the dots, and then make a decision.

Meditate

Meditation is a great way to connect your conscious mind with your subconscious mind. Again, you would have to be intentional about it. Every day for 10 minutes disconnect from the world and meditate for yourself. You can do a breathing exercise, listen to calming music, do some stretches, whatever works for you. This will not only have positive effects on your mind and overall health, but it will also allow you to connect with your inner voice and wisdom.

You'll get familiar with your intuition, its tone and feeling, which is going to help you listen when it speaks.

Listen

Practice listening to your intuition. Your workplace is the best place to start practicing this essential skill. Whether you are asked to make an important decision or asked to attend a meeting that you don't feel like going to. Listen intently to what your inner wisdom is saying.

With enough practice, you'll enter the stage of 'knowing'. It will become second nature to you and you'll know instantly when you want to go one way but your intuition is pointing you towards the opposite direction.

Believe

Another essential aspect is to start believing in yourself. Your intuition is only going to be useful when you trust yourself. You've done your homework, you've worked hard to connect your conscious and subconscious minds, and you've practiced listening to your inner voice. Believing in yourself is going to connect all of those three things and will give you a sense of calm when you put your intuitive abilities into action.

Act

Now it's time to see how well your intuition works, if you were able to connect with it and if you are on the right track to strengthen it. Start acting on your intuition, begin with small decisions both in your work and personal life. You'll realize that there are scenarios where it is easier to act on it while there are situations where it's not so clear whether you should listen to your gut feeling or not.

Telling the difference between the two is another sign that you are now able to connect with and listen to your inner voice and that is going to be the key to your success.

There you have it! These are the five ways that you can use to strengthen your intuitive abilities.

Developing and strengthening your intuition is an investment that will reap incredible benefits for you in the long run so don't give up and keep honing and sharpening your intuition.

Happy growing!
